Within walking distance of a popular Southern Maine coastal resort community, this lot was created by the subdivision of an existing family compound. There remained, in close proximity, a main house and small cottage upon the site, both in the shingled gambrel style. The small lot and an available “sight easement” to the ocean, 0.5 miles distant, heavily influenced the design.

Primarily this house is to be used as a summer residence for a retired couple but also to act as “home base” for relocated grown children and grandchildren. As such the house needed to meet the requirements of a “quiet life”, while accommodating the hustle and bustle of family guests. One large open space on the eastern and ocean side holds the Kitchen, Dining, and Family Rooms, opening south to a generous, well appointed, screened porch. This then connects to a large entry porch, giving glorious morning sun with ocean views. The Master Bedroom is on the first floor, with four bedrooms and Playroom/Second Family Room on the second floor.
