This house is located on an ideal (2) acre lot with an upper plateau, sloping down to the south where sits a beautiful area of wetland and forest. Sun exposure permeates dawn to dusk and the slope was sufficient to allow a walk out basement, open to a flat, grassy meadow. With the road/front to the north, the house is, in effect, turning its back to passing traffic and with the rear of the house opening up to southern exposure, using the main house structure to shield the large south facing decks and porch from the prevailing cold winds.

The kitchen is placed to have a lovely vista across the dining area to the east, and across the family room to the south, thus taking it’s rightful place as the center of “command and control”. The cathedral ceiling above the family room allows glorious light to pour through a large eyebrow dormer window and is surrounded by a second story library balcony.

The combination porch/deck is utilized year round due to its favorable sunny aspect, and the porch roof and overhanging upper balcony controls the harsh summer sun, while allowing winter sun to penetrate.
