Brendan McNamara Residential Architecture

The Town would only allow limited exterior remodeling due to the proximity to the ocean, however, the existing interior was completely removed and a vastly superior arrangement designed.

The first floor was completely opened with the Kitchen moved to the northwest corner giving it an impressive panorama, across the Dining and Family Rooms, of the Atlantic Ocean. An existing garage was converted to a south-facing Sun Room overlooking the comings and goings of the harbor. A generous portion of the second floor is dedicated to an art studio with further, elevated views of the ocean and port.

The ability of this house to withstand ocean storms was paramount, much effort was made to resist wind shear and “rogue” wave onslaught, (the house sustained damage during the Perfect Storm in 1991). When a winter storms or hurricanes generate large waves the surrounding view is dramatic and not for the faint hearted. This is truly a magnificent location, bathed in sunlight, and in the new layout minimizes its limitations, while enhancing the site’s favorable aspects.
